National Service Scheme

National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's Birth Centenary Year, 1969 with 40000 students of 37 universities. NSS was established by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and LIBRARY, Govt. of India with “Not Me: But You", as the motto which reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service.

The objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:

  • To develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • To gain skills in mobilizing community participation
